Everything you need to know about the Jollibee X Quiccs collab

Last week, Jollibee and Quiccs dropped a teaser of their cool collaboration.

“We’ve really been blown away by the buzz and excitement not just among toy collectors but also amongst our customers and social media followers. This is testament to the universal appeal of Jollibee and the creativity that went into this collectible, seamlessly integrating Quiccs signature design style and our brand persona,” said Dorothy Dee-Ching, Jollibee’s VP for Marketing.

Everyone—toy collectors, Quiccs fans, Jollibee customers—had one question: how can they get it?

Today, at the sneak peek at Jollibee BGC Triangle Drive, we got answers. Here’s everything you need to know about the Jollibee X Quiccs collab.

The collab will be released at ToyCon 2024 which is happening at the SMX Convention Center from June 14 to 16. Gates open at 10 a.m. but toy collectors are planning to line up as early as Thursday, June 13, to make sure they get their hands on the collab.

Lining up a day early has become a tradition for fans of his art toys, Quiccs Maiquez shared. “Our collectors go the day before. It’s become a community. They wait overnight together, parang party na siya,” the toy designer, creative director, graffiti artist and illustrator said.

Sizes and prices

The toy comes in three sizes. “TEQ63 usually comes in three sizes,” Quiccs said. “The MegaTEQ, the MicroTEQ and the standard one. We’ve done this in the past with our other color ways and other collaborations. Since the collaboration is very special for us, it’s only proper for us to do the three sizes for Jollibee.”

You can get a set of the 12-inch MegaTEQ, 6-inch standard and 3-inch MicroTEQ for P25,000. The 6-inch and 3-inch JolliTEQs are also available for individual purchase, for P6,500 and P3,500 respectively.

300 sets

This is a very limited edition toy. Only 300 sets have been produced, 150 of which will be available at ToyCon. There will also be 100 pieces each of the standard and the MicroTEQ available at the convention. Allocations are set for each day of Toycon so no worries if you can’t make it on Friday—as long as you go early during the weekend. There are also limited edition shirts and sticker packs available for P1,200 and P350.

Those who aren’t going to ToyCon may still get the chance to get their hands on the Jollibee X Quiccs collab… but they’ll have to wait. “For now, it’s only available at the Toycon but watch out for more details on how consumers are going to be able to get it,” said Dorothy.

Filipino talent

Dorothy called the collab with Quiccs “a no-brainer” for Jollibee. “Our brand has always been an advocate of Filipino pride and we have two internationally acclaimed, homegrown Filipino brands coming together for this awesome creative collaboration. I’m very happy to be working with an amazing artist like Quiccs. This collaboration allows us to shine the spotlight on Filipino talent and creativity that is making waves not just in our country but all around the world.”

Quiccs, whose art and whose TEQ63 toys have fans across the globe, is influenced by three main things—the Japanese robots he grew up watching on TV in the ‘80s, ‘90s hip-hop and the graffiti culture of the early 2000s. All three passions can be seen in JolliTEQ—his take on Jollibee’s beloved mascot. The toy comes with what Quiccs calls “optional arms” so you can change JolliTEQ’s pose.

Signature style

“I’m very proud of how it turned out. I wanted something different from the toys Jollibee has released before. Gusto namin yung may angas siya, dala nya yung Quiccs look. We’re very happy that we were allowed by Jollibee to execute it [this way],” Quiccs said.

Dorothy said, “We wanted to respect the artist’s signature style.”

Quiccs, whose impressive list of collaborations include Adidas, Johnnie Walker, Foot Locker, Hello Kitty, Transformers and Voltes 5, is honored to collaborate with Jollibee. “Syempre. Pinoy pride, I will always bring that with TEQ63—that’s why it’s TEQ63, 63 is our country code. For one of the biggest Filipino icons to invite us to collaborate is a very big honor. It’s definitely a milestone. Makikita ko to when I die, magfa-flash ‘to.”

Quiccs said, “Jollibee is very very close to our heart as a family.” It’s become customary for them to eat food from Jollibee as soon as Quiccs arrives home from a trip abroad. His mom and sister know that as soon as he comes back from conventions in the US, Europe or Hong Kong, he needs his dose of Chickenjoy and Jolly Spaghetti. “Tradition na namin yun as a family. It’s our first meal after coming back from abroad. I look forward to it.”

Quiccs’ sister Luday, who is his business manager, is thrilled about the collab too. “It’s very special.”

And she attests to how much Quiccs loves Jollibee’s spaghetti. “Favorite niya talaga,” she said.

Inspired by Spaghetti and Palabok

The JolliTEQ packaging is also inspired by Quiccs’ favorite. He said, “They’re inspired by the spaghetti and palabok boxes, the very iconic Jollibee design. We patterned the boxes after that style, para very charming yung dating niya. Sabi nga nila, box pa lang, ulam na.”

And just like Jollibee’s spaghetti and palabok, the toys will also be served to customers in Jollibee’s brown paper bags.

If you want to grab this hot collectible, make sure you head to Quiccs’ booth at ToyCon as early as you can. He said, “It’s hard to miss because it’s very red and it’s very Jollibee.”
