The screams were deafening when James Reid arrived unannounced in Jay B’s concert. It was a meeting of two multi-hyphenated artists. They sang their collaboration song “Hello 2.0 (Legends Only)” together for the very first time. The track was released in March this year.
“Thank you for coming. I appreciate it,” said Jay B in English. The GOT7 leader held the first stop of his world tour “Tape: Press Pause” in Manila on Oct. 1 at New Frontier Theater. The South Korean artist then looked at James Reid’s clothes.
“Do you like it?” asked Reid. He spoke in Korean and asked if Jay B found his clothes cool.
“Yeah! Yeah!”
Reid then pointed at Jay B and told the crowd, “he’s cool.” In Korean. Screams were heard again.
First time
This is Reid’s first collaboration with a Korean artist that’s why he thanked Jay B for it.
“You are very popular in the Philippines. I was very surprised by the cheers. He is the best,” said Jay B.
Reid smiled before replying, “no, you’re the best.” Ahgases (GOT7 fandom) cheered.
Jay B said that he is looking forward to working with Reid again. If there’s an opportunity to do so, he will do it again. They shake hands. This is their first meeting. Unsure of what to talk about next, Jay B asked Reid for leads. James Reid taking the cue posed a question to him, “what do you think of Filipino women?”
JayB shyly smiled. Reid leaned over and whispered something to him. The GOT7 leader smiled and said, “Magaganda kayo.” More cheering ensued.
Hello
Jay B asked the audience if they were familiar with “Hello.” He revealed that the first time he heard the song he felt that he could do good with this song. Then he said he wanted to do his best.
“I was very surprised because the song is very nice. It was the very first Filipino song that I heard in my life,” he said. “What do you think about me?”
Jay B acted that he felt a bit embarrassed about the question, thus hugging James Reid. But Reid instead, faced the crowd to tell them, “ang guwapo niya no?”
Since it was their first meeting, Jay B said that he found James looking very friendly. He thought of his Korean friends when he saw him. Then James said that he found Jay B to be a super nice guy.
The mutual admiration ended when Jay B asked the audience to cheer and sing along with James Reid as he sings “u & i”.
“It’s great to be here. It’s my first time to perform this onstage. This is pretty special,” he said.
Reid released the music video for the song on Sept. 29, two days before the con. The video featured model Kelsey Meritt.
Ahgases instinctively create a fanchant for it. They chanted “you and I”, repeating the line after James sang it.
