The most excruciating part of Episodes 11 and 12 of “Crash Landing on You” was waiting for them for two weeks.  There were so many happy and important things going on in these two episodes that it’s no wonder that the drama got its highest ratings, yet.

Here are six things that we loved about the two latest episodes.  The following texts contain spoilers.

Captain Ri Jeong-hyuk (Hyun Bin) is in Seoul

We’ve spent 10 episodes watching different attempts of Se-ri (Son Ye-jin) to cross the border while Jeong-hyuk was able to do it in one day. But we’ve already came to a point where we are convinced that anything Captain Ri does is for the best. We could make the assumption that he thought Se-ri would not survive the journey if it was her.

Enough with the technicalities.  He is with Se-ri again. That’s all that matters.

“Memories of the Alhambra” feels

Se-ri imposed a mandatory rest for Captain Ri. She left him with a black credit card and the most wonderful gift ever: the world’s fastest internet.

He started off with serious business and ends up playing an online RPG game.  He assumed the identity of Tomato Cultivator. Unfortunately, he was no match for an avatar named “Desperate Effort.”  All this was happening while the OST of Hyun Bin’s last drama, “Memories of the Alhambra” was playing in the background.   The moment was gold.

Kwang-beom (Lee Sin-young) gets scouted in Gangnam

“I ran into difficulties.  Everytime I took a step, people approached me and gave me stuff like these,” Kwang-beom worriedly said. Then he showed his troop business cards from SN, YJ, JYB.  They obviously refer to Korea’s Big Three talent agencies namely SM, YG and JYP.

Being a soldier from North Korea meant he had no idea what it stood for.  So when he was told that he was exactly the person they were looking for, he thought his cover was compromised. Oh, being handsome can be problematic.

Coincidentally, actor Lee will soon star in his own drama, “Friend Contract”.

Blossoming romance between Seung-jun and Seo Dan

We knew there was chemistry between Seung-jun (Kim Jung-hyun) and Seo Dan (Seo Ji-hye).  The ship is definitely sailing for these two! She gives him shelter to hide from the North Korean government.  He gets sick. She rushes over and feeds him salty porridge. They wake up lying next to each other. We can’t wait for what’s going to happen next.

The women of Captain Ri’s village

When Young-ae’s husband got arrested, all the power she wielded over the officers’ wives disappeared.  Associating with her suddenly became dangerous. But did the women desert her? Did they cower? Oh no, not them. They risked being sent to labor camps to bring comfort to Young-ae. It showed that the dynamics between these women are complicated but very sincere.  We’re not crying, you are.

Hyun Bin’s makeover

Not like Hyun Bin ever needed one.  He’s the guy who made a glittery blue track suit look the most fashionable thing in the world in “Secret Garden”.  Se-ri said he had to look the part of her bodyguard. In any case, it’s winter and he needed clothes. We needed to see him try them.

This moment sent a very strong empowering message to women. Se-ri called the shots.  Captain Ri did everything to please her. And it was okay.  This role reversal did not emasculate him. In fact, it made him more desirable.

So men, take note. Captain Ri is continuously setting the bar high for you.
