NewJeans: New style icons of K-pop

NewJeans have proved their mettle through their music and performances, and are among the forerunners of K-pop’s fourth generation. The girls are ambassadors of global brands, from Chanel to Gucci, either as group or as individuals.

Fashion-forward style icons

But their impact goes beyond music charts. The five young women have established themselves as modern-teen style icons. Some recognize them for their bunny hats, backpacks and, of course, stylish jeans. They’ve embraced denim maxi skirts, camouflage, prints, and denim-on-denim.

The girls’ style has attracted the attention of fashion houses. NewJeans are now ambassadors of various brands, either as a group or as individuals.

Minji, 19, is a global ambassador of Chanel. Hanni, also 19, is an ambassador of Gucci and Armani Beauty. Danielle, 18, is the face of Burberry and YSL Beauty. Haerin, 17, represents Dior. Hyein, 15, represents Louis Vuitton.

They have also collaborated with major brands like LG Electronics, Levi’s, McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Nike, among others. This impressive list shows that they could become heirs to the likes of Blackpink and BTS in terms of global star power.

Fourth generation chart-toppers

The group has quickly revamped Korean wave in many ways. Since their debut in July 2022, they have dominated the fourth generation roster. Their debut single, “Attention”, with its accompanying video, became an instant hit with over 1.8 million YouTube views in its 24 hours. It demonstrated the appeal of their EP debut, which included the viral song “Hype Boy.” The quintet stands out for their ability to combine their harmonic voices, lyrics, and catchy music rhythm.

Their EP debut was only the start. Their single album, “OMG”, released in January, showed the group’s power as a multidimensional all-female group. With their second EP album, “Get Up”, released in July, NewJeans again topped the music charts and continued to capture the hearts of Bunnies (the name of their fandom) and K-pop fans all around the world.

Other than their anticipated debut performance at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, the group still has their surprises in store for fans. The band is reportedly getting ready to reveal some amazing new collaborations and partnerships.
