Kim Jun-myeon, aka Suho of EXO, is one of the most respected idols in South Korea. He is, after all, the leader and main vocals of K-pop powerhouse EXO. Coined by the South Korean Media as the “Kings of K-pop” and “Nation’s Pick”, he became even more famous due to their impact and influence in the industry.


A hardworking man with outstanding skills and talents

Suho has always dreamed of becoming a singer. He was 16 years old when he was street casted by SM Entertainment in 2006 and became a trainee for six years before debuting in EXO. Having undergone a lot of obstacles throughout his training period as well as their blossoming career as EXO, Suho still did not give up and always did his best to prove that he can overcome all these hardships.

Acting in various musical shows

Fans witnessed his growth as a member of EXO. Aside from being part of the nation’s boy group, Suho’s world class talent showed that he also excels in acting in musicals. With his captivating voice and naturalism on stage, he has taken upon the main and lead roles in the various musicals titled, “School OZ” (2015), “The Last Kiss” (2017), “The Man who Laughs” (2018 & 2020), and “Mozart” (2023)

Exploring the world of acting in K-movies and K-dramas

With his overflowing charm and natural talent in acting, Suho also established his name and career as an actor.

In 2016 he made his big screen debut as Sang-woo in the indie film titled, “One Way Trip”.  It was followed by another film titled, “Student A” (2018) where he played the role of Hyun Jae-hee, and Ha-neul of the VR film called, “The Present” (2019).

Suho also brought different characters to life in different dramas. Those characters are Woo-joo of “The Universe’s star” (2017), Lee Yoo-chan of “Rich Man” (2018), and Kim Seon-woo of “Behind Your Touch” (2023).

In the recent drama “Behind your touch”, fans expressed their admiration and praises for Suho’s natural acting skills as Seon-woo. His acting prowess wowed even non-fans.

Taking on the Ambassadorship of various brands and events

Suho also represented different brands and events. In 2019, he became the ambassador of Bulgari, 13th Daegu International Musical Festival, 7th Suncheon Bay World Animal Film Festival, and the 4th International Film Festival and Awards – Macao.

In 2020, he was chosen as the ambassador of Seoul Welfare Foundation Public Relation, Anua Skincare, and Montes Wines. And this year 2023, he became the face of Education Innovation in Soonchunhyang University. He also went viral for his wet look during the Milan Fashion Week as ambassador for BOSS.

Success with his solo-career

Suho shines brightly even as a solo artist. He debuted as a soloist in 2020 wherein he released his first mini-album titled, “Self-Portrait”.

He captivated his fans with his magical and harp-like voice and intricate visuals for his album which resulted in topping music charts around the world. “Self-Portrait” shot to the top of music charts domestically and internationally. 

Following his success as a soloist in 2020, and just months after his military discharge, he released “Grey Suit”, his second mini-album. Fans showed their love and support with his masterpiece that made the album hit the #1 spot on iTunes top album charts in 33 countries– making him the K-pop soloist with the most #1s on iTunes album charts in 2022.

All his efforts and hard work earned him an award in the 2022 China Year End Awards as the “Best Selling Solo Male K-pop Album” for “Grey Suit”.

He was also the first solo artist in 18 years to win the “K-wave Popularity Award” at the 32nd Seoul Music Awards, succeeding singer and actor Park Yong-ha in 2004.  

Suho’s perseverance as an idol reflect so much of his personality as a person. His dedication and love for the work he does deserves all the recognition there is. Suho showcased to the world that he is an excellent singer, actor, and model. His achievements on his personal endeavors tells us that behind that ‘best leader’ title, there is a Suho who shines brightly and beautifully on his own like all the other stars out there. 

Suho will be in Manila for the 2023 Asia Artist Awards  on Dec. 14. The event is promoted by Pulp Live World. The event is powered by Metrobank and Smart.
