It’s always a good seat if it’s Seventeen

The bleacher seats were too far to clearly see the faces of Seventeen’s members, but that didn’t matter. The 13-year-old in me—the one who discovered Seventeen by chance—was happy. It was the moment I considered myself a Carat.

The first time I saw them live was two years ago at the historic “Be The Sun” concert in Bulacan. I was also able to watch them during the “Follow” tour. I was determined not to miss out on the “Right Here” concert, too. I camped at the mall for 24 hours to secure my ticket for it. But that’s okay because a few months later, I was in my seat and they were in front of me.

Seeing them walk onto the stage reminded me of why I love them. Seventeen has a way of making me feel everything—joy, nostalgia, even the occasional tears. Most of all, they make the 13-year-old Carat in me feel alive.

I couldn’t hold back my emotions when the vocal unit—Joshua, Woozi, DK, and Seungkwan—performed “Cheers to Youth.” The song holds a special place in my heart. I listen to it almost daily, especially during moments of self-doubt. As the lyrics went: “On my way home today, I tell myself I did a good job. It wasn’t always easy, but it wasn’t bad.” That night, it felt like they were singing just for me.

They also performed another one of my favorite songs, “Ima—Even If the World Ends Tomorrow.” Hearing that song live was like living a dream. I couldn’t help but wipe my tears.

Because I heard that the carts didn’t work on the first day, I didn’t dare raise my hopes that I would see them up close at all. Thankfully, the vehicles worked on the second day, allowing them to get closer to me. It was a surreal moment.

I’ve attended their concerts several times, but the never-ending “Aju Nice” always hits the spot. It is one of the moments I look forward to—a time when no one cares how shaky the videos will come out after we jump, sing, and dance. It is a time when no one can judge how loud we are because everyone in the stadium shares the same abundant love for Seventeen and their music.

Seventeen is definitely not just an artist I came across and listened to. They became people I look up to and a place to come home to when life gets a bit heavy. Until then, I hope luck continues to be by my side so I can meet them again until their last “Say the Name.”
