Hwang Jung-eum says no to marriage in the series “To All the Guys Who Loved Me.”
We’ve been hooked from the moment Hyeon-joo, played by Jung-eum, walked down the aisle in her white dress. She looked so beautiful holding a bouquet. Only for her to proclaim to the world that the person she wants to spend the rest of her life with is herself.
This is Jung-eum’s second drama for the year. “To All the Guys Who Loved Me” launched on June 29, the week after “Mystic Pop-up Bar” ended. Perhaps, this is why people who have seen the trailer for the drama made a connection between the two dramas.
But the two are very different in plot. “Mystic Pop-up Bar” is about settling grudges to free someone’s soul. While “To All the Guys..” is about a woman trying to escape the fate of her past lives and that is, being married to the same man.
Fans have loved Jung-eum from her previous works that include “Kill Me, Heal Me” and “She Was Pretty.”
Trying to break her resolve are Ji-woo and , played by Yoon Hyun-min, is the CEO of the Pharmaceutical company where Hyeon-joo works in. He’s dreamy and been doing everything that he can to please her.
His character resembles the character Kyoichi Amagi in the Japanese drama “This Guy is the Biggest In My Life”. They’re the same because Hyeon-joo acts mean towards Ji-woo to shake him off. But instead of getting angry, he does everything she asks for.
Hyun-min has appeared in dramas such as “Tunnel” and “My Holo Love.”
Vying for Hyeon-joo’s attention is Seo Ji-hoo n as Do-yum. He’s a webtoon creator and grew up with Hyeon-joo. However, she only sees him as a little brother.
This is not the first time Ji-hoon and Hyun-min fight for the same girl. They fought over Moon Chae-woon in “Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter” before. This drama is a reunion of sorts for them.
Watch “To All the Guys Who Loved Me” on VIU.
