K-pop powerhouse Seventeen just dropped a new special unit with none other than Hoshi and Woozi teaming up for their first-ever single album, “Beam.”
“Woozi and I have always been inseparable since we were young. We’ve long dreamed of working as a unit, and now that we can finally present BEAM to the world, I’m beyond excited,” said Hoshi. “This album truly reflects the kind of music we want to create, so we’re planning to fully enjoy ourselves on stage.”
Known among fans as Seventeen’s “mastermind duo,” Hoshi and Woozi bring together the best of both worlds—Hoshi as the leader of the performance unit, and Woozi as the vocal unit’s lead and the group’s main producer. Their chemistry isn’t new; they first gave us a glimpse of their synergy with the 2017 B-side “Bring It” from the album “Teen, Age.” Now, years later, they’re officially back as a unit, front and center, owning their sound and their stage.
“It’s an incredible experience to release a new album with my closest friend in life. We had an absolute blast working on it, and I believe that energy is what makes this album so honest and true to us,” said Woozi.

Energy
The album’s title, “Beam,” captures the light and energy the two radiate when they’re together. The tracks reflect who they are from start to finish. It is full of confidence, originality, and that unapologetic self-love that fans can’t get enough of. Both Hoshi and Woozi had a hand in shaping every track, and their names are in the credits for all of them, making this release feel especially personal.
At the heart of the album is “96ers,” a lead single that celebrates their journey as friends born in 1996. The track mixes bold, experimental sounds with clever lyrics that speak to their growth, ambition, and unshakable bond.
The music video dropped alongside the single, and it’s a visual treat. Set in what looks like an art museum, Hoshi and Woozi carry themselves like actual masterpieces—oozing individuality and charisma. Their unique style, smooth choreography, and that unspoken connection they share take the whole thing to another level.
“Beam” also features two more tracks that show off different sides of the duo. “Pinocchio (feat. So!YoON!)” leans into alt-R&B vibes with a fresh metaphor about love, secrets, and how feelings grow stronger even when things aren’t said out loud. Then there’s “Stupid Idiot,” a deep house track that brings out their fun, fearless energy with pulsing beats and catchy lines that make you want to move.
While Hoshi x Woozi are just stepping out as an official unit, Seventeen as a whole is hitting a huge milestone—10 years in the industry. And instead of slowing down, the group keeps evolving, whether as thirteen, in sub-units, or through solo projects. Their creativity and drive keep pushing the boundaries of what K-pop can be.
