K-pop powerhouse Enhypen are back in the Philippines, this time as brand ambassadors for homegrown lifestyle and fashion brand, Bench.
For the Enhypen members, returning to Manila feels like a homecoming. Why? Filipino Engenes (Enhypen’s fandom) are proven to be among their biggest supporters.
The group just recently held their full-house Fate tour concert in New Clark City Athletic Stadium last February 2024. Three months later, they are back in the country for a sold out fan meeting with Bench.
Bench and Enhypen
At the exclusive press event in Manila, the seven members arrived decked out in casual outfits from their Bench collection. The press event was held the day before their fan meeting, “A Sweet Experience.”
The members of Enhypen shared their enthusiasm for Bench and their personal style preferences. They also expressed excitement about returning to the Philippines and meeting their Filipino Engenes again.
At first, the group looked nervous. But after their leader, Jungwon, led the group’s greeting and introduction, they all loosened up and became more comfortable.
Heeseung said that they are grateful to be picked as Bench ambassadors. They acknowledged it as the leading lifestyle and fashion brand in the Philippines.
Coming back to the Philippines
“We are excited and happy to work together with Bench and we are thankful for this opportunity to come back here in the Philippines and have an enjoyable time with Bench,” Heeseung said.
“We received a lot of love and support during our Manifesto and Fate tour concerts in the Philippines so we are very happy to be back here,” Jungwon said.
Jake also excitedly expressed how grateful they are for their Filipino fans.
“I feel like whenever we come here, the energy is just incredible and whenever we perform they always give out the best energies. We think we have so many good memories here in the Philippines so I think that’s why we always come back here,” Jake said.
Proving their enthusiasm of being back, Sunoo shared some of the Filipino words they have learned. He started with the newest word he learned “Kumusta?” Followed by usual phrases “Salamat po,” “Mahal Kita,” and “Pogi” that have been part of their vocabulary for a while now.
He even added “Sunoo Pogi”‘ which they commonly read from Filipino Engenes’ messages, earning laughter from the audience.
All about Enhypen’s fashion
When it comes to fashion, the members of Enhypen praised each other for their personal fashion sense.
Jay picked his co-member Sunghoon for being the most fashionable. He said that Sunghoon was the most up to date to the latest trends. Sunghoon also knows what fits him best.
Sunghoon responded ‘thank you’ in a very cute way and said he thinks all the members are fashionable. He also complimented their youngest member, Ni-ki, for his fashion sense.
It was a baton pass of compliments among the members.
Ni-ki said the fashion style he enjoys nowadays is street wear but he is interested in trying different styles. Jay also said that street wear and oversized clothes are his favorite fashion styles at the moment.
Among the Bench outfits released in their campaign, Sunghoon said his favorite were the baseball jackets they wore. He also mentioned the collection with their logos because it makes him very proud as a member of Enhypen.
On Engenes’ love
When asked about the love they receive from fans all over the world, Jake said, “Even if we sing and perform in Korean, I feel like people all over the world can relate to our music and to our performances. I think that’s such a wonderful thing.”
“Here in the Philippines, we see a lot of our fans sing along to our songs and every time we hear that we feel very blessed and happy,” Jake added.
Sunoo also said that they devote a lot of their time to perfect their performances. To achieve this, he said they get energy from the support of their fans.
Ni-ki said during his free time, he reads comments and messages of their fans from Weverse and X (formerly Twitter). Interacting with fans and reading their reactions to their performances makes him really happy.
The members also shared personal thoughts about the country. Sunghoon said he wants to take a vacation in Cebu or Boracay and try jet skiing. Heeseung, on the other hand, said he likes dried mangoes and has memories of eating them while growing up.
When asked about being recognized as this generation’s K-pop powerhouse, Heeseung humbly answered that it makes them feel speechless. He also expressed how grateful they are for the interest given to their group.
Heeseung added that they want to repay their fans’ support with better songs and performances all the time.
The future for Enhypen
Enhypen also gave a hint of what fans should look forward to in the future.
“As a group, we always strive to be a better version of ourselves. We explore new music, new types of performances, and I feel like our upcoming album really portrays that. It will be something you haven’t seen before so please look forward to our upcoming album,” Jake said.
Enhypen’s loyal fanbase had prepared hard to welcome the group warmly for their fan meeting. The fan meeting will be held today, May 28, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Aside from ensuring a fully packed venue, fans filled the streets around the arena with the members’ faces and names.
